Transhipping Services

Twin Cities Guppies can import fish into the United States from other countries.  If you plan to, or have purchased your fish from platforms such as eBay, AquaBid, or Vivvy, and need to import your fish, we can help you do that! We have more than 10 years of experience with shipping fish domestically and have been importing fish since 2018. There are still many different costs involved in importing your fish after you pay the seller for the fish. Transhipping fees and costs include:
  • U.S. Customs Clearance
  • DNR Fees
  • Transportation from the Designated Airport 
  • Domestic Shipping fees to get your fish delivered to your door.
 

Transhipping Procedures

IF YOU ARE READY TO ORDER YOUR FISH AND HAVE IT IMPORTED PLEASE READ BELOW:

It is crucial to provide your name, phone number, and email address to your seller so we can make arrangements to get your fish to you as quickly as possible.  Please TELL your seller to put this information on ALL of your fish bags. Our main form of communication is email: transhipping@twincitiesguppies.com and Facebook Messenger. The sellers DO NOT provide this information to us prior to shipment pick up. We only receive this information at the time that we pick up the fish from customs. 

1. Check our prices before ordering your fish so you know and understand the total cost involved in importing your fish. 

2. Check our Facebook Page or Contact us to confirm shipment arrival dates.  We accept shipment every 2 weeks, usually on a Monday.  This information will be posted on our Facebook page

Indonesia Shipments: If you order from Indonesia, your fish will be shipped ahead of time to Thailand until the date of export from Thailand to the U.S. Make sure you know the cut off time for Indonesia's shipments to Thailand.  This can cause a delay in receiving your fish if your seller misses the cut off date.  We DO NOT import directly from Indonesia currently. 

3. After ordering your fish from the seller, check our Facebook Page to fill out a google form.  The link will be posted prior to shipment arrival.  The form is to collect your information to make pick up and payment arrangements. The form will also have meet up locations for pick up. This allows us to get your fish to you faster!

4. On the day of shipment arrival, we will post what time to meet up in MN and WI.  These will be estimated times of arrival and may be subject to change due to weather and traffic conditions. Times are usually posted in the afternoon, ONLY AFTER the shipment has cleared from customs. We do our best to be prompt with posting times, but these times vary and are out of our control. If you are not able to meet up at the time of the fish arrival for pick up, you can pick up from our store the next day during business hours or choose to have your fish shipped to you via UPS. 

NOTE: Failure to make payment or pick up/shipping arrangements within 48 hours of the fish arrival will forfeit the rights to your fish. It is important for you to communicate with us so we can work together to make this a successful experience.

 

Transhipping Policies

DOA (Dead on Arrival)

We will inspect individually ordered fish, for any DOA’s upon arrival of the shipment. Twin Cities Guppies is NOT responsible for DOA’s.  Should there be any DOA’s, you will need to work with your seller for a resolution. Twin Cities Guppies will inform you of any CLEARLY VISIBLE DOA’s.  If we can’t clearly see that your fish is DOA, your package will be shipped as is, unless prior requests have been made. We DO NOT open and inspect whole boxes that are ordered.  This is to honor people's privacy and to avoid tampering. We recommend that you discuss DOA policies with your seller before making your purchase. We always do our best to take good care of all the fish that we receive.  There are many factors that play a role in ensuring the survival of the fish.  Due to these factors, if your fish is NOT in good condition, we will reach out to you through messenger or email to make a plan before opening any bags and changing any water. 
 

PAYMENT/ REFUNDS

ALL SHIPPING AND HANDLING FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE WE CAN RELEASE YOUR FISH IN PERSON, OR DOMESTICALLY SHIP YOUR FISH TO THE PROVIDED ADDRESS.

We take every precaution to make sure that your fish arrive safely and/or are shipped out safely. Our goal is for our customers to have the most success in importing and receiving their fish. Due to upfront costs involved in importing your fish from overseas, WE DO NOT REFUND SHIPPING FEES FOR SERVICES DUE TO DOA’S. ANY DOA ISSUES WILL NEED TO BE RESOLVED WITH YOUR SELLER.
 

Local Pick Up

Local customers will be informed through Facebook Messenger and/or Email regarding when their fish will be available for pick up.  There will be a one hour window for picking up orders, if fish arrival is outside of our regular store hours. Any orders that are not picked up within the one hour time slot will need to be picked up the next day during business hours at our retail store.  Twin Cities Guppies is not responsible for any deaths due to customer delays in local pick up.

Domestic Shipments

All customers that require their fish to be shipped out will be invoiced prior to the fish being shipped out. Invoices will be sent via email with the email address that is provided.  The services available to our customers are UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day Air.  Due to the cold weather during the winter months, we ONLY offer UPS Next Day Air for the safety of the fish. All fish will be shipped out within 24 hours after the initial U.S. arrival.
